Who are we here for?
Gender-based violence is a structural problem in our society. As a women's shelter, we offer protection to all women affected by violence.
This means all people who define themselves as women (this includes transgender women and cisgender women). We also welcome non-binary or intersex people who are affected by patriarchal, domestic or partner violence if they can identify with this project.
All children of women affected by violence, including boys up to the age of 18, may live in the women's shelter with their mother. Unfortunately, pets cannot be accommodated.

Life in the women's shelter
The women's shelter is a protective facility for women affected by violence (the term includes cisgender and transgender women) and their children (regardless of gender) up to the age of 18.
Depending on the individual case, we also offer protection for non-binary or intersex people.
The day-to-day organization and maintenance of the women's shelter is based on the shared responsibility of each person living in the house for themselves, the children, the young people, the other residents and the house itself. In addition to accommodation, advice, accompaniment to appointments, excursions and leisure activities, the women's shelter also offers a donation cellar for those who come with few or no belongings (e.g. clothes, shoes or toys). The Autonomous Women's Shelter relies on the participatory co-responsibility of the residents to maintain the safety and cleanliness of the house.
People with different languages, nationalities, societies of origin, traditions, ideas, expectations and prejudices come together in everyday life at the women's shelter. The age of the residents ranges from 1 day to over 70 years. Educational diversity, different life plans, as well as very different coping strategies and personal ambivalences characterize everyday life and represent a continuous challenge in living together.
A good atmosphere in the women's shelter contributes significantly to everyone feeling safe and able to manage the house independently at weekends and overnight. It is the responsibility of the residents to manage all aspects of the house outside of the staff's working hours. However, they can always fall back on the 24-hour on-call service provided by the staff. Due to the size of the group in the house, the responsibility of each individual is demanded and encouraged. The women in the women's shelter support each other, regardless of their culture, religion, language, age, physical limitations, sexual orientation or nationality.
A home without violence!
Security
Available around the clock - The women's shelter offers help and protection at any time, day or night.
The protection of the residents is the most important goal of the Autonomous Women's Shelter. We guarantee this spatially through the 24-hour reception facility, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, as well as through a security system in cooperation with the police, Hansaalarm and the Lübeck security company.
In addition, the safety of all residents is guaranteed by the confidentiality of personal data and the installation of individual safety plans following risk assessments by staff, police and cooperation partners.
The women's shelter can be reached by phone day and night on 0451-66033.
How you can protect yourself when you go to a women's shelter
Do not tell outsiders that you (and your children) are moving into a women's shelter.
Do not give anyone the address of the women's shelter.
Switch off your location on your cell phone before you set off.
Do not post any videos or pictures of the women's shelter on social media.
If you suspect that some kind of „spy software“ (a program that spies on your cell phone) has been installed on your cell phone, turn it off before you come to the women's shelter, or don't take it with you at all.
