That was March 8th!

This year again, the Autonomous Women's Shelter participated in actions for the International Feminist Day of Struggle. We were part of the network for March 8th and, together with other associations and political groups, organized a fantastic demonstration in Lübeck's Old Town. The motto this year was „Resistance means life!"  “For an internationalist feminism," and should solidarity link the diverse, feminist struggles around the world, be it in Iran or Rojava. This year, March 8th fell on a Sunday, which, with the best weather, brought many to the city to protest. Approximately 1200 people participated in the demonstration, which caused a stir with loud chants, colorful banners, and political music. In addition to a speech from us, other groups also participated, such as Lübeck for Kurdistan, FAU or Trans SH to speak. After the closing rally, there was a joint gathering at the SchickSAAL with soup and drinks for solidarity.

Previously, other political actions were also planned and carried out by the network. There was an intergenerational, feminist exchange that allowed feminists from different generations to discuss political stances, various forms of action, intergenerational and international solidarity, common struggles, and changing language. A feminist pub quiz was held, and there was an event to paint banners for the demonstration together.
