Feminist strike day on March 9, 2026

We went on strike!

It was first launched nationwide in 2026 by two different groups, Enough! and the Daughters' collective, called for a solidarity strike by FLINTA people, which we, as a women's shelter, joined.

Why we went on strike: Structural sexism, misogyny, transphobia, and homophobia, like many other discriminatory mechanisms, are deeply ingrained in our society. On March 9th, we wanted to send a signal and show that the work of FLINTA individuals, whether paid or unpaid, contributes essentially to maintaining daily life, the economy, and private care, yet often receives little recognition. The model for this was the Icelandic women's strike of 1975, in which 90% of women in Iceland gathered and protested.

FLINTA stands for Women, Lesbians, Intersex individuals, Non-binary individuals, Trans individuals, and Agender individuals – all affected by patriarchal discrimination in different ways.
